I wasn't older than maybe 13 at the time but I put that poor animal through hell and I still don't know why. He died (of natural causes, unrelated to anything I did) many years ago but I'll always feel guilt and shame about it.
Toward the end of his life, I tried to be extra kind to him, to make it up to him, but the damage had been done. I don't harm animals anymore and I'm disgusted that I ever did. I hope he can forgive me, wherever he is.
