If you don't have speedsters with you then Zubats sucking you dry with Leech Life is a threat, but otherwise the only bad thing about Mt. Moon is that it's bigger than you probably expected with Team Rocket running around to give you plenty of trainer battles (one has a goddamn Raticate) and that it's a one-way trip the first time around.

And Leech Seed on Bulbasaur is a godsend in literally any situation, especially that early in the game.
