I think it's your fault that guy deactivated his Tumblr since you brought it up. "Mary Serena" also sounds like a great name. I think the original definition for Mary Sue/Gary Stu used to be a characters that was undeniably perfect and no one, not even you is realizing that you may or may not be calling Serena perfect all these years. Shame that the "Mary Sue/Gary Stu" lost all meaning, like all other buzzwords.
