Personally, I'd go with DPPt for the story of the anime. Barry, Lucas and Dawn journeying through Sinnoh and uncovering the hidden Plot of Team Galactic, as well as learning and growing as characters as the Anime progresses would be cool.
Also, the Anime would tackle darker themes and have more fluent fight scenes that are actually fun to watch.
