I argued in favor of the SM starters from June 4th day in and day out for months. I remember Masuda(?) autographing the fanart of them, and saying, “hoho, you aren’t supposed to know these ones yet!”. So I can say with full confidence that they’re fake. The bear is 10/10, easily believable. The fire one is okay. But the water one would never be a starter, it’s not marketable enough, not plushy-friendly. It could easily be a routemon, though.
