If using max you use RTB's script and the files in his thread.
If using Switch Toolbox you use the files in the OP. In the case of Switch Toolbox you open the file and it opens a window within the program with a file list. From there you find the model file and double click on it to preview it. You can then right click on its name in the file list to export as a .dae file which can be opened in Blender (or any program that supports .dae files.)
