Just chiming in here, Typhlosion is significantly more popular than Cyndaquil or Quilava. Trying to argue that they didn't evolve Quilava because of "marketing" or "it's less popular" is just retarded. The fact Typhlosion didn't get proper representation in the anime and yet is still so popular just goes to show how much the anime would have benefitted from Ash or Dawn evolving theirs fully.
But, I guess, Ash is kinda to blame for this as well? I mean, there is this kind of undercurrent rivalry between Typhlosion and Charizard. I guess they didn't want a Typhlosion to appear in one of the main teams because it would make Ash's Charizard less popular?
