Here's a run down of starters as I see them, set to the tune of my previous post so as to make a lucid example.
Charizard: Reliable DPS, decent enough coverage
Venusaur: Reliable bulk and utility
Blastoise: Reliable bulk and DPS
Feraligatr: Unreliable DPS because of physical, water special etc. etc., no good moves, meh stats
Meganium: Reliable utility, nothing else.
Typhlosion: Unreliable, high DPS. Only decent starter out of the three, but it's typing lets it down because of it's bulk and nasty movepool
Swampert: Reliable bulk, reliable coverage, reliable DPS
Sceptile: Reliably fast, bulk lets it down (not that it matters when it OHKO or 2HKO's everything)
Blaziken: Usable utility, usable bulk, passable DPS, amazing typing
Infernape: Strong coverage, great stats, fantastic DPS
Empoleon: Fantastic bulk, great utility and best starter typing
Torterra: Good bulk and attack, good coverage, let down horribly by it's speed and weakness to ice. Still reliable for 8/9ths of the game.
Serperior: Passble bulk, mediocre dps, moderate utility. Honestly not that bad, fantastic with it's DW ability
Samurott: Coverage is amazing, statistics are a let down. Pure water is a decent typing. Let down by not being able to fulfill any role well enough
Emboar: Slow, frail, and delicate to handle. Can't switch in without fearing KO, can't stay in against certain opponents. Unreliable DPS due to meh movepool.
