the rest are trying way too hard to play off pokemon's existing design patterns, but miss their simplicity. so they end up a mesh of colors and features from different styles (like the fully evolved grass starter in the first one, it's a menacing head, but a stylized bugs bunny body, with some onion tail thing with leek stems on its back)
others just look devoid of individuality, like generic jrpg monsters. they'd never be something you'd want to actually own.
