Do you think Pokemon will ever have a radical jump to 3D? Obviously the new games have 3D graphics but the gameplay has remained almost identical to Red/Green. The lack of change is especially noticable compared to other Nintendo IPs (Super Mario Bros -> Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda -> Ocarina of Time, Metroid -> Metroid Prime). In all those examples, the classic 2D style and the more recent 3D style of game both manage to co-exist with each other.
