>>47384671>Nah turned based RPGs are fundamentally broken because they can be cheesed through pure grind.Press turn makes this way more difficult. There is no way to grind out of having a weakness, cause it won't just hurt a little more but also give the enemies more chances to act. In a game where enemies can buff themselves to the point you can't hit them, have insta kills and have really nasty status effects that matters. Often the times when people grind in SMT it isn't for levels but to get a certain demon with null effects or a certain buff.
Like take Matador, the famous roadblock. He isn't hard cause you need to be a high level, but cause you need a demon with agility buffs/debuffs and something that nulls wind spells. People grind past where you get a demon for that to get a heal all spell as it makes the fight easier. Even with that it doesn't become a spamfest, but about getting the right tools. As you get to mid game levels barely start to matter versus having the right abilities, especially cause many bosses will have a gimmick you need to deal with. Alciel hits you with a spell that reduces all allies to 1 hp then does a physical attack. The trick is having reflect physical and using it at the right time
