Kingdra was relatively rare on peoples teams back in the day and people didn't know how to deal with it because of the lack of weakness. Used it competitively and I'd say the biggest problem is that it cant quite kill anything. All that physical attack stat is just wasted. It looks like a sniper or a cannon, it should get rebalanced. Its design says special attacker, not mixed.
got one in ORAS but it was a pain waiting until the last 5th of the game to finally have a watertype. in hoenn of all regions. I mustve traded it back and forth online or something.
Oh and I beat all the challenges on pokemon stadium 2 with it. Its like a pivot pokemon. that abuses its typing for both defense and offense. Its probably long powercrept out now but a little more special attack would be appreciated
favorite watertype.
