>>58607051Due to time constraints leading up to the release of PMD Rescue Team, the planned Mystery Jungle dungeon and its associated story events were cut, forcing hasty rearrangement of some minor aspects of the game. This is why Mew is placed as a random spawn in Buried Relic and is bizarrely associated with the Regis, as well as why Leaf Stones can only be found in Wish Cave shops as opposed to the other evolution stones which each have an associated dungeon where they spawn naturally. Many Grass-Type Pokemon were also moved around due to this, such as Exeggcute being placed in the cavern portion of Howling Forest and others like Bellsprout and Sunkern being placed into Wish Cave and Joyous Tower.
Some remnants of this cut dungeon can still be found in the code of the game, including its tileset and some leftover enemy spawn lists. Mystery Jungle would go on to be fully realized in PMD Explorers, and be home to Mew as was initially planned.
