Going standard rules of 1 poke per area and dupe clause as well as shiny if I ever run into one.
I passed the first island Kahuna pretty easily even with a massive fighting weakness early on and I didn't really know the ruling with different sections in each route or area so I only caught one mon per area, if I could get some clarity on it would help a lot to get diversity started up.
I'm just at the Daycare now wish me luck for later areas.
