A failed shillmon should be a pokemon that are unpopular by fans despite their heavy marketing and accessibility. Zoroark is not only pretty popular but was also gimped by Gamefreak in it's own gen due to bad decision and thus, was never properly shilled. So, idk why people keep saying it failed when people actually Zoroark.

Hilarious, because it's actually the opposite. No body fucking cares about the gay duck since reveal and the final evo leaks cemented it's place as a failure, meanwhile Zoroark was actually fairly popular but it being locked by stupid events and had it's gimmick spoiled by team preview ruined it's popularity growth.

I never saw the movie, myself, so I can't say. But Zoroark did left an impression on fans, even if it's outmatched by Chandelure in popularity.

I think it's unfair to say Zoroark flopped to death when despite the less amount of shilling it got compared to Lucario + the in-game sabotages, it's still the second favorite unova pokemon. Yeah, it got beat by a pokemon with no shilling, but Chandelure was OU in BW, easily accessible, and Japan just love the blue spirit flame.
