It was a hurdle enough to accept that my trainer will have to teach her pokemon some of her language, since it's just dumb to have wild creatures automatically understand hooman speak (of course I use little handicaps like certain mons living in urban areas and being somewhat familiar with the local language, and also). But a luxray has different physiology from a roserade. I can't just accept that they'd growl at each other and be mutually intelligible. I want the team to be able to converse comfortably, but I'm kind of at a loss unless I use some crutch like "the psychic goes into everyone's heads and acts as translator," which is just too lazy.
I've seen other authors here gloss over this issue, and I want to know how you guys decided to do that. It's probably advanced autism but I can't just ignore this.
