Also, does anyone know when (in game) the protag is supposed to receive his/her Pokedex? Because I would like to suggest, and have always wanted, a pokemon game where the player gets his pokedex when he chooses his starter, without the 5 minute inbetween where you're forced to walk to the next town and back home again before you can start buying pokeballs.
maybe Mangrove gives you your poke and dex, then you fight your childhood friend, then she leaves, there's a commotion outside, then you and Mangrove exit the lab and find your friend crying because some thug stole her pokemon. And Mangrove sends you to investigate (but I don't know why he wouldn't go himself...) anyway in the meantime that would give him time to give your childhood friend the third starter so she can start her off screen journey to become post-game champion.
