Can we talk about how they fucking ruined his character? Now bringing in the other villains and alternate world stuff isn't too hurting as Giovanni is willing to return on bigger scales once he resurfaces. But my problem is the ending to it. Sure he is surprised like always after being defeated by a little kid but his reaction after that is what kills his character. Instead of either leaving without a word or talking about that this defeat shows him his success wasn't enough and that he needs to go into hiding again he says "what new world shall I unleash my evil schemes upon". Do you know what that means? Not only is he stubborn and doesn't accept his defeat anymore like he normally does, but he is fully aware that all of his actions and his business are evil and describes them as evil. As if his goal is not to conquer any challenge before him but being evil for the sake of being evil. And even some of other parts we saw about like with the conversation with Silver just get completely left out. He was reduced to being evil because he simply wants to be evil.
