Ilima's trial was a fucking rollercoaster. I couldn't find any sources on IV/EVs for trial pokemon, so I was calcing blind. I thought my only chance would be leading Ekans for Intimidate + Glare on Gumshoos, then maybe having to sac it to bring in Inkay and get Reflect up (kill the Yungoos first if still alive). So of course the first Hyper Fang Yungoos in the cavern crits and OHKOs my Ekans. I also had no idea about XP gain and miscalculated the final Gumshoos before totem, overleveling two of my other pokemon including Murkrow who was a big damage dealer. So I went in with pic related.
I was sure I had lost with only 3 pokemon on my team, and started typing up this post for that but I somehow managed to win due to the Totem using way too many Scary Face and Leer. Lead Inkay, set up Reflect, killed the Yungoos, switched out to clear the pointless Leers and managed to kill with Meowth.
Overall, I've really not enjoyed the XP management aspect this run at all so far...does it get better? Between the hugely varying XP amounts (ask me about beating a wild Furfrou while leveling before Ilima) and the game not saying how much XP pokemon get from the XP share, and now being extremely strict about what you can and can't get in the trial cavern, it's such a pain. I also hugely overleveled my Rowlet (picked for style not usefulness) to 15 trying to absorb XP for the rest so I wouldn't overlevel. Basically have to keep it boxed until the next trial.
