He sees bug pokemon as more his kin than humans and can uniquely speak with and understand swarms of them. His long term goal is to create a huge butterfly and insect nature reserves in towns and cities across the land and has used his unique bug communication abilities to become a formidable gym leader despite his young age as he hopes that this will help him earn the money needed to create the reserves.
