The road to the Battle Tree is almost a totally straight line, albeit with a single cave that feels empty and only really comes into play in the UB quest. Other games would have entire optional routes or more locations to check out while playing through the game. Instead you get walled off with a Stoutland for no reason other than "you can't go to the hotel yet.

>So what a Pokemon has a different way of being caughtThere's nothing wrong with that, but you're not even told anywhere in the game that it's an SOS only mon while fighting Corsola. Was putting an NPC near the beach that said "I fished up a Corsola and a strange pokemon started attacking it!" too much effort? Hell they could have said so in the Dex. Not to mention fishing in general is broken.
There's no need to strawman me as hating the entire series just because i thought Gen 7 was a letdown.
