>>45472015To whom it concerns,
I understand that one of my rooms was set to modchat %. I was unaware of the reason, as I submitted a support ticket, only to be answered that "Champ Battles" are to be muted because they "break rules." While I understand the consequences of breaking the rules on Pokemon Showdown, I do not understand how this pertains to me in particular. Could you simply not lock the individuals breaking the rules? Why silence the majority of players who do not break the rules?
I always encourage positivity in my battles, leading discussion into non, 4chan-like humor. As a moderator for multiple forums for 5 years, I have come to realize the position has a strange clout, presenting itself within the higher ranks. While it started as being a community member wishing to contribute, many members of my team decided to use that power for deeds of silencing, and harm of the community. I would have to answer several appeals a day, all leading to two of my fellow mods simply because they disagreed with them. Childish, don't you think?
Regardless, I hope next time you experience myself in battle, you will not just "silence" us, and rather eliminate those who actually break the rules. I understand that muting, locking, and banning people gives a rush of dopamine, but as a member of the moderation team of this community, you must remember that you are also simply human. In the real world, you most likely do not have that kind of power, so naturally you lean into it.
And hey, even your administrator battled for us one time. So, clearly we aren't all that bad?
Cheers.
