I mostly dragged my feet to rank 16 these past few days (given the bare minimum wins and sets needed to get to that rank). It would probably be a waste to not at least try to get to rank 20, especially for that juicy elite charge TM, but GBL is so intimidating that it's practically killing me inside.
I can't tell if I would be better off fighting it out in Master League with my lvl. 50 shadowmons, trying to coinflip my way through the Evolution Cup with a rank 1 Shadow Golbat, mediocre IVs Vigoroth and semi-decent IVs Dragonair, or just waiting until the Miltank Day event and rushing in with my meme-tier Ultra League mons, since the only good thing I have for the Willpower Cup is a rank 1 Hisuian Qwilfish that needs a few powerings-up and a second charge move.
