Alola had some decent flare but it's pretty clear that there's nothing to it once the hype wore off and people started noticing staple features were missing that gave the golden era in Gens 4-6 so much longetivity.
SWSH was just following the trends Gen 7 set, and for that same reason it only ended up worse.
