>>48574957>rock breakerActually, I think that might be a more widely available ability than anything related to traversal like the rideable Pokemon's functionality. After all, you wouldn't really need a rock smash ability to open up a path if you can just climb around it.
We saw in one of the trailers that you can make one of your own Pokemon hit berry trees in order to knock the berries loose for collection. You can see in this screenshot something that looks a lot like a node of ore between those two boulders on the right. My guess is that you can have your Pokemon hit that to break it and get crafting materials.
