>>13795726I'm not sure if you get what I'm saying. I don't mean "upright" as simply bipedal, I mean specifically in that goofy, humanoid stance. A tyrannosaur is technically upright, but is still essentially horizontal in appearance. ALL game artwork in Gen III showed Grovyle in that leaned-forward stance, it just made him look more like a raptor. I'm not saying he wasn't intended to be more upright, only that we didn't have any instance in the games of him appearing that way, so the change between him and Sceptile is jarring.
Grovyle's game design only appeared in a similar stance in Gen IV and V. I think he looks just as goofy as Sceptile in these newer sprites, so I would agree with you that currently the love for Grovyle over Sceptile is misplaced. However, that love was already present for years prior to his updated sprites, so it's just an ingrained thing.
