The problem with Dexcut are shillmons who are obviously going to be unaffected, so it's easy for their fans to say that isn't a problem or "just play with your 2nd favorite or play with the new mons" and some of shillmon fans feel bad for people who don't have a popular pokemon as their favorite. Another reason is that they also fell for the "Catch em' all" slogan.
The other problem is their shit animation excuse, but games with smaller dex helps with other things, as Masuda said. LGPE is a mediocre game, but the way they implemented following pokemon was perfect, while in SWSH was shit. Legends also has a small dex, but has great features at all.
