-The narrator goes out of his way to describe Ash and Pikachu's journey as "Carefree" in the intro. This implies that Ash's current stated goal to "make friends" is not an urgent one. It seems the quest to "become a Pokemon master" is totally contingent on the Gary conversation... when will that be?
-When Ash and Misty discover the place to eat, this contradicts earlier plot description translations that Misty has "eaten here before". In other words, google translate or deepL cannot be trusted for the plot descriptions in any of the other episodes either.
-Ash and Misty eat matching crustless meat, cheese and lettuce sandwiches and some form of juice, with Ash eating some form of cherry tomatoes as well. A childlike meal. No romantic undertones detected, people who thought this would be "datelike" were incorrect.
-Of note is Pikachu's meal with heart shaped treats inside, these are de-stemmed Pecha-Berries. While it's possible, I do not believe these hint to anything more. Other than possibly Brock's special loving touch.
-The flavor of the food is recognized by Misty and Ash, which makes sense, Brock was the de-facto cook of the group and they can't survive long without him.
-The trio meet! It's not played up as anything grand, more like a happy coincidence (unlike Misty's intro). A low-key surprise. Pikachu is even more gentle with its excitement for Brock.
-Brock explains his sudden availability in a way similar to Misty's, this time, his ties to responsibility (becoming a Pokemon doctor) is cast aside because he was chasing after a girl. Sad to see, but it's on brand for Brock.
-If you want to put your Pokeshipping goggles on very hard, this could tie into the fact that both Misty and Brock changed courses in their life "for love" but I don't believe this is a subtextual hint or what they're going for. My evidence: Misty seems genuinely surprised at the idea.
