Schizoanalysis Episode 5:
-Tried my best to figure out the analogue to this port town in real life, but Japan has way too many port towns to be reasonable. If my assumption that this anime-only region is in Chubu is correct (and that we're steadily getting closer to Kanto), the best fit I could find was Omaezaki or Gamagori, but I'm not completely satisfied with either of those.
-Much more balanced trio dynamics this episode, happy to see that Episode 4 wasn't a sign of how Misty and Brock are handled.
-Some time has passed since the last episode, since Ash's ankle is healed. To be expected, but of note.
-Another bug gag for Misty with some cute frame-by-frame expressions. She again hides behind Brock here, but that seems to be a lead-in to him asking about her bug-phobia than anything else. Her character posing behind Brock and embarrassed expression is another example of what I'd call the "moeification" of Misty (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).
-Small animation error when Misty laughs at herself with Brock, her mouth at her lowest pose remains in place.
-This episode has more moving parts than usual, nice set up with the Venonat and the construction crew, which will eventually be the source of the fire later on, as well as the kids who pass by in the background who will be the main kids watching the fire being put out later.
-The little boy who plays the biggest part in the episode has a shirt that is reminiscent of Ash's pajamas from Episode 1. I couldn't find a comparative outfit to the little girl's, the closest was Molly from Movie 3, but I find that unlikely to be intentional.
