For a better example, look at pic related. You start off on the rightmost side, where lucky people manage to get a shiny in just a few eggs. However the majority of people maybe have to put in about 10-30 boxes in to get theirs. Then there are the outliers on the left side who can only wish for death as they approach 100+ boxes. You're right on top of that curve sliding slowly to the left. When will you stop? No one but Masuda knows, but chances are it'll be before you reach the bottom.
