I'd say it depends on your work ethic and if you think you might not actually have the to see the story through. Like if you're like me and a slow worker it might be best to wait until your finish so you don't make people wait for you to take a year to work through a story. Another thing that could happen is you start a story, post the first chapter or get through a few but then lose interest, which sucks if you've been posting it already.
