>>37588392Just a guess but why it loses its ears upon evolving is probably inspired by how dobermans often get their ears cropped. Which, while they are healing, does make their ears look like horns.
Or maybe they simply thought that ears and horns looked like too much stuff going on. Or just bad art. Just a giess I’ve had for a while now.
