>>43553381>gen 3 gyarados OU setGyarados was UU before Gen 3 and only became OU because of Dragon Dance. Its only "usable" physical moves are Earthquake and Hidden Power, Hyper Beam and Rock Smash. Also, Gyarados stayed OU in both Gen 4 and Gen 5.
Also, Salamence had the same problem. Had to rely on Dragon Dance to keep up in OU and couldn't use STAB to its advantage. After the split, it became Uber in Gen 4.
