As a kid, I would name the female prtagonist in Crystal "Casey" and reset the Odd Egg until it hatched an Elekid.

>>50759889. She was the MVP of Johto and deserved Misty's slot. Perfect character to fill the novice roll Ash could "coach" while still being bad himself. A nice rivalry dynamic could exist between her Chikorita and Charizard. She could fill the Chikorita quota a free up a slot for Ash. And her obsession with baseball and particular looking Pokemon could've given her more interesting rolls in plots than Misty ever had.
