>>33134751>Can it work?Honestly I think you're biting off more than you can chew. I'm working on an open world game myself, but my region has only four cities, an HGSS dex, and no gyms. The focus is on dungeon crawling and sidequests. Anything bigger I feel will be overwhelming for myself and anybody who plays it.
If you have gyms focus on a single type, you need to give the leaders varied mons for coverage. Leaders that you can steamroll with one mon is boring. If you're gonna have every mon up to 5th gen appear, then every route better have a completely unique set of mons to encounter.
