>>49258919>>49259412>>49259426Bro, I'm not trying to be an asshole, but you're lying to me, and you're doubling down because you got called out. I don't like it when people lie to me, let alone twice. You might have pulled a Base Set Charizard, but it wasn't a 1st Edition Base Charizard. Let me explain why.
The first edition print run of Base Set was very small. It was a new game, so WotC didn't know if it was going to be a hit, so they kept the print run minimal. Not going to go into numbers, because it's not relevant, but it was gone within weeks. So WotC fast tracked a second print run (Shadowless), which was also sold out in weeks. So then they ordered a THIRD print run (the first print run of Unlimited, which basically kept getting printed until Base Set 2 came out). And this was all within 2 or so months of the game coming out, before Jungle was released. Then, when Jungle got released, its 1st Edition print run was sold out from distributors within 2 DAYS. TWO. DAYS. And thus, the Unlimited print run of Jungle was released. This was about the time that big box stores and grocery stores started to realize that these Pokemon cards were a big deal, and they wanted in on them. So THEN after Jungle was already on its Unlimited print run, you could FINALLY buy Pokemon cards at places other than Comic book/Sports Card/Hobby shops for $3.29. 1st edition Base set was long out of print by this point, and was already going for $200-$300 a box. Most kids I know never even saw 1st edition packs, let alone opened them.
And this is all in the US. You mentioned Coles, which a bit of googling tells me is a grocery store chain in Australia. Australia didn't get Pokemon cards until around the time Fossil came out in the US (October 1999). And you expect me to believe your mother bought FIRST EDITION. BASE SET. BOOSTER PACKS. IN AUSTRALIA. AT A GROCERY STORE. 9 MONTHS AFTER IT HAD GONE OUT OF PRINT. No. I don't believe you.
