>>20190784I hope you know you're one of the reasons I dislike Awakening. Any game that actively attempt to cultivate a waifufag fanbase is immediately a lesser game in my opinion. I'm completely fine with a game having relationships as a mechanic if the characterization is so natural and human that relationships are treated as something that's just matter-of-fact. The support system in Fire Emblem has always felt odd to me when every character is chaste and single until you pair them up. In the games with more natural and in-depth storytelling and world building (FE4/5/9/10), there were characters that were together before you play matchmaking with them, and it made the setting feel more real.
In Awakening they give you a self-insert and a harem of beautiful ladies to have small talk with until they suddenly want your dick. It never felt natural to me even if the fanbase ate it up. I liked the pairing system in FE4 better because it felt important and since each character had a few other units they were more attached to it felt more natural, and the different fathers a child had changed them completely instead of just having different color hair. In Awakening it felt completely sterile.
Sorry for unloading this on you in particular, it's just one of those things I really dislike about the fanbase and Awakening, and it sucks because there are so many examples of when IS did these things right without making their games feel like they were pandering to a different audience. Harumph.
