Blastoise can learn Ice Beam and Earthquake to cover its only two weaknesses and destroy everything, or you can even use the early Moon Stone on a Nido and use one of them. FRLG is more fun for balanced gameplay and leveling a full team, but gen 1 is still something that should be experienced, I think. Even if it’s just a solo run
