Think something like keys in zelda dungeons, except that it shouldn't feel out of place in a natural setting. Only thing I can think of is something like having to push a boulder down a hole from an upper floor and use it to create a bridge like the dragon gym from GSC but i don't like how it would force me to design the rest of the dungeon around this.
