I hate to be this guy, OP, but other Pokemon portals, boards and forums with the possible exception of Smogon board (that is, unless you mind dying due to excessive boredom while people keep crunching numbers around you) are a tad worse than the containment cesspool known as /vp/.
For some reason boards where people go around with established identity are full of circlejerking, resolving conflicts via weighting parcicipants according to their notoriety and attempting to put up a struggle just to have that last proverbial word for no other reason that to try and save face before the rest of the named crowd.
/vp/'s fast pace and anonymity assures that you will keep running into the same shit as well, but it is easier to either push a poster off his pedestal or back off from your own faggotry.
Artfag communities and portals are definitely worth trying out, though.
