What's really confusing to me is the actual length of the hack itself. I remember seeing somewhere that it started in March or May and lasted until he got caught sometime in/before early August when he got caught in the middle of things, which if the guy wanted to dump in the first place gives us a good idea of roughly how long it took for him to search through and find things to download in the first place; a couple of months.
Why did he not just start uploading right then and there immediately? Clearly the guy wanted to do a huge dump and wasn't curating anything like personal information, and uploading stuff while he figured out how to get ZLA to run and play it doesn't really affect the speed. Plus it lowers the risk factor down to essentially zero for him, as opposed to this live-transfer that everyone knows about in a Discord that's going to get taken down any moment, and will likely be the deciding factor in catching the guy since I doubt he has a separate laptop always VPN'd with his Discord.
It's all just so strangely and specifically braindead.
