If you wanted to check every raid den to see if it was shiny, you would:
1. Save
2. Check the next den
3. If it wasn't shiny, restart
4. Skip the next den
5. Repeat
The only thing this strategy differs with is that instead of checking the next den, you check the fourth den:

2. Check the fourth den
3. If it wasn't shiny, restart
4. Skip the next den
5. Repeat
