>>55601963>or me it's two things: the "muh husband and children" thing (of course the first female villain had to have a focus on that... what a bore) Society as a whole is allergic to female villains, the only time a man's fault is if its family-related. I give Lusamine credit for actually being a real and terrifying depiction of a narcissistic parent when the narrative allows her to be one instead of watering her down.
Though its really annoying when Game Freak sets up more opportunities for female villains but refuses to capitalize on them. Considering how they refused to make Rose an actual villain or even remotely competent, they could have had Olena as the true big bad behind the scenes but she does fuck all except simp for Rose (Hell, if anything the MC is her villain since they conspire with the local thugs and storm her place of employment so they can harass Rose about where Leon is even though Oleana already explained to those idiots where Leon was)
>Nihilego influence thing. Having her be manipulated by the alien jelly fish basically erased whatever agency she could have had.I don't quite remember but I think it was only in USUM. Regardless, I agree that was bullshit. "Hey kids, have a parent whose overcontrolling, puts you down and gaslights whenever you dare to stand up for for yourself, and sees you a nothing a but possession, blame a jellyfish". what a load.
