>>50606525I'm posting this one before entering Mt Moon, since I awkwardly made the first post right before the gym. I leveled up slightly after the gym's trainer fight came too close to a death. I started Brock by ember spamming Geodude (Fun fact: Brock will use always use a Full Heal if you burn him and will even use it in the same turn if you outspeed him, gotta love gen 1 AI...). By the time Onix came out Charmander was at about half, so I switched into Pidgey and got Onix at -6 accuracy, then switched into Kakuna to try to poison him to death (in hindsight this would've been pointless anyway because of the full heal thing I mentioned, but I totally didn't even think about it at the time).
Anyway, he screeched and I thought nothing of it, seeing as he was max low accuracy... Yeah, well, he hit me after getting him to -6 speed with string shot and gave me my first death. I'm honestly more annoyed than anything, seeing as this seemed totally avoidable, and I was really not wanting a death so early on, but oh well. RIP BZZZZZZZZZT, for what its worth I found your nickname quite entertaining, but I guess Beedrill will have to wait for now. I was really looking forward to using him against Misty too, ugh.
I went into Charmander and played around Onix's bides from there, winning my first badge. Route 3 was uneventful, which is good, since both the Spearow and Jigglypuff have been run-enders for me before (don't laugh). However, I have yet to encounter a Pokemon on Route 3, and I actually have a question for any anons who might be reading: Do you consider gift Pokemon separate encounters than the route catches or do they take their place? Every time I've nuzlocked in the past I've kind of had the unwritten rule that if I go with the giftmon then that's my encounter, but I was curious how you guys handle it. I'll probably just do that, but I still wanted input as to whether I should take the Magikarp or try for a wild mon. I'll wait a bit for now...
