Why, a friend of mine got himself a scholarship studying Japanese on his country's university then started studying even more even harder in Japan. And he's like three years older than me. And I'm well past Christmas Cake age.

Ultimately, because of how badly managed and handled the Pokemon franchise is, I think it has become one of those things where you just simply have to make it work, so to speak. By yourself for yourself.
See what it is, draw upon what you think is good and you like, ignore what you think is bad and dislike, create your own content based on such things be it fanart, fanfics, doujins, etc. Something like that?
