It also depends on the circumstances. If you're going to a comic-con or gamestop during the launch of a game guys like this crawl out of their holes to buy stuff. Thats pretty much what you'll see on the launch of a major game at every gamestop not just pokemon. But if you go to a gym or a fitness expo you don't see very many fat people at all. Also its a regional thing. If you live in the south there are more poor people and they all tend to be...not just fat but absolutely massive, but if you live in Southern California or Seattle or Denver, people tend to be (more often than not) thinner.
