>JRPGs must have a storyEven if this was true there are better ways to execute plot rather than constantly string the player into events and cutscenes with little agency of their own. If cutscenes and forced dialogue are your only means of "fleshing" out characters and story (like in Sun and Moon) then you have poor game and story design.
Just because there are other games that do it doesn't make it ok.
