It does not need to be a trainer or any specific specific goal adventure with the human, just a comfy exploration style of life. I would never want to be in a pokeball and always stay by my Umbreon side, probably have some Eevee one day. I would defend the human if he get in trouble, hoping he does the same with us. Maybe help the human do the E4 if he want us to join.

Exploring the world seem way more fun than playing videa game. I won't need a game to escape if the world is filled with nice people and comfy place to go. It would rather feel like home.

I would rather explore all of them with my Umbreon and human companion than stick to one. It seem more fun to me.
