>>57432434The stigma for furries doesn’t really exist for Pokemon. In fact a lot of people see Pokemon attraction as a furry thing, mainly because furries have a strong presence in the Pokemon fandom and the way people perceive Pokemon.
With that being said when it comes to Pokemon shape doesn’t factor in as strongly as people think. Look at all the smash or pass polls that emerged a few years back. The eeveelutions scored pretty high and surpassed the majority of bipedal pokemon. In Pokesmash Ninetales smash percent is equal to that of Hatterene, a pokemon touted as a so-called “Gardevoir clone”. My point is that the stigma over appearance or shape is much less active in a Pokemon context.
With that said if we take a look at these polls the smash percent difference between Lopunny and Gardevoir is in the single digits, and the gap between Lopunny and the third most “smashable” Pokemon is even greater, and that Pokemon is usually Braixen or Delphox. So Gardevoir isn’t that dominant, Lopunny is more or less just as popular on that front.
But I think Gardevoir success lies in being one of the first “conventional attractive” Pokemon, being popular with furries, which is probably why it has so much porn meanwhile other Pokemon not based off real animals typically don’t get as much porn as those that are (see Cinderace vs Hatterene, or charts where people tally the r34 numbers, and being in general a fairly popular Pokemon like Lucario.
