Problem with this outlook. When have we seen this? If memory serves me correctly, any time someone tries to remove a Pokemon's agency and mind, to just be a battle slave with pure power it's seen as a bad thing and is not natural. This happened with these Dark Balls for example. I can't remember a single moment where we've seen a Pokemon, naturally display this style of mentality? Ash's Pikachu for example, falls in the first option of "Sentient with the capability of intelligent thoughts". Pikachu does however act like a child most of time, which is understandable, he is a kid.
